Dragons, Swords, and Magic

I’ve officially moved on to the outlining stage, but I must outline the entire trilogy before I work on my immediate project. While this may sound daunting, it’s pretty straightforward. All I’ve got to do is treat my trilogy like a giant standalone novel and separate my ideas. It reminds me a lot of the Lord of the Rings, which was initially one massive book until Tolkien’s publishers sliced it into three novels.

As of now, my story takes place in the frozen Northern Isles of Scantainia, a fantasy kingdom suffering from mysterious quakes that crumble islands. I can’t say much more, but I can most certainly promise dragons, swords, and magic. This will also be the first time I’ve written a love story in two years, so this could either be a disaster or a masterpiece…. Nevertheless, I’m fairly confident the romance author in me hasn’t waned.

Last but not least, I’d be ignorant not to acknowledge the approaching holiday! It’s been nine years since I’ve spent Christmas in the snowy woodlands and frozen ports of New Hampshire, and I’d forgotten how many lights they put up! I’m also thrilled to say our Hallmark marathon is persisting through the chilly season, and as Jesus’s birth draws closer, I’m beginning to feel more excited; I usually have a pretty good idea of what people are getting me for Christmas, but I’m almost entirely oblivious this year.

My parents are cackling right now. I just know it…
