Well, traveler, another year is coming to an end, paving the way for 2026. I must confess that I’m rather excited for this new chapter – not that I have anything material to look forward to yet, but I have a feeling that something good will happen when 2026 finally does get here. I think there’s a lot of dread when it comes to New Year’s Day because we’re afraid of what another 365 days might look like.
Endings are always a little scary because humans weren’t meant for endings. Yahweh formed us with the intention of giving us eternity with him in the Garden of Eden – we were made for everlasting joy and abundance. Hence, our bodies groan at the thought of any ending whatsoever, whether it be a year, a stage of life, or even something as small as a day.
However, that isn’t to say endings are something to fear. Some endings are just new beginnings – a new book in the series that is our lives; and yes, while it may come with the occasional new obstacle, it also comes with a cast of new characters and wonders nobody expected.
As you anticipate 2026, I encourage you to speak as if your best chapter is on its way. Words have power – more power than you think – and if we all put our faith together and choose hope, we might find something beautiful in our next chapter together. I also encourage you to remember Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
See you in 2026, traveler!
