For some reason, this post needed to happen.
Meet Duncan. He’s the dog next to me in my main website photo and the handsome (and tired. I accidently woke him up from his nap) dog featured in today’s post picture. I don’t think I’ve given him enough credit, as he’s been published in two stories alongside me at this point. He’s the family dog, though he and I have grown particularly close in the past two years.
Honestly, I’m very much a cat person, so it baffles me that I love dogs. I guess the idea of having an enormous animal is very appealing to me, because the larger an animal is, the more I want it. For instance, my ultimate dream is to own a horse someday. I know, a little crazy, but I took care of them back in Idaho for a while, and now I love them!
Plus, it’s like owning a dragon. A massive animal I get to ride 24/7? Um… sign me up please!
Also, the idea of human/animal friendships has always intrigued me as a writer. Not that I like sad dog movies… I’ve already been traumatized enough. I’m talking more like The Call of the Wild (the 2020 version with Harrison Ford). Comment if you’ve seen this one!
It’s an excellent movie about a dog’s quest for freedom and identity. If you’re a fan of historical movies, this one is 100% up your alley. It takes place during the Klondike gold rush and is completely clean. Seriously, it’s got The Hobbit vibes. It ends a little sadly, but The Call of the Wild isn’t your typical dog movie.
Well, there’s my random post for you all today! Have a good one, and make some pumpkin spice lattes to welcome the Fall season! I know that’s what I’m doing after this.
P.S. Tell me your dream pet in the comments! Mine is totally a horse, but I’ve also got my heart set on a parrot. If there’s a chance I can hold a giant bird, I’m taking it.
Until we meet again, traveler.
